Meet Dr Katharine

Katharine brings deep lived experience to her work with neurodivergent whānau. She grew up in Wales before moving to Aotearoa at twelve, went to school in Hāwera, and later studied in Auckland. She met her husband while running the Auckland Marathon in the late 2000’s and has happily traded running for walking since then. As a mum of six, from a toddlers to teenagers, she understands the beautiful complexity of family life, especially when ASD and AuDHD are part of the picture. Her everyday stories, including one of her younger kids proudly rocking a mixed mullet–mohawk, bring humour and down‑to‑earth insight into the realities many parents are navigating.

Her work is shaped by a practical, compassionate approach that focuses on understanding each person’s needs and supporting them in ways that genuinely fit their lives. Katharine is particularly passionate about helping mums exploring late ADHD diagnosis, and parents who are guiding their children and teens through wellbeing, learning, and everyday routines. She values creating spaces where people feel understood and supported, and she works closely with our Takiwatanga whānau to ensure families feel respected and cared for.

Outside her clinical work, Katharine coordinates a community playgroup, and loves spending time with mums, babies and toddlers—a part of her week she describes as “heaps of fun.” This community connection feeds directly into the way she supports families: with warmth, gentle humour and a strong belief that every parent and child deserves practical guidance that helps everyday life run just a little more smoothly. When she’s not working or wrangling her own crew, you’ll often find her out walking and enjoying the small things that keep her grounded.
