Meet Eleanor
Eleanor is passionate about supporting neurodivergent people, with a particular focus on helping those with ADHD feel understood, supported, and less alone. Her interest in this work is shaped by both lived and professional experience, and by a belief that neurodivergent people benefit most from care that is informed, thoughtful, and collaborative.
Being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult was an important turning point, helping many earlier experiences make sense and guiding her desire to support others who may be navigating similar questions. She values working at Beehyve as a dedicated neurodivergent service, where practitioners can learn from one another and continue to build better ways of working with ADHD and related experiences.
She is currently studying counselling at Massey University and is a counsellor‑in‑training. Before beginning her studies, she worked in the veterinary industry, where her interest in healthcare and helping others first developed. She works with people with ADHD across different life stages and has a particular interest in women who are diagnosed later in life. Her work often supports people experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low confidence, people‑pleasing, difficulties with boundaries, stress, burnout, and challenges with emotional regulation. More recently, she has been exploring how hormonal changes, such as menstrual cycles, perimenopause, and menopause, may affect ADHD symptoms.
Eleanor brings an empathetic, practical, and grounded approach to her work. She is able to think on her feet and respond flexibly, while also keeping clear boundaries so she can remain present and balanced. Her focus is on creating a space where people feel safe to talk things through, make sense of their experiences, and build tools that feel realistic and supportive.
Originally from Scotland, Eleanor moved to Australia when she was young and has lived in New Zealand since 2019. She lives with her husband and their adopted cat, Ollie. Outside of work and study, she enjoys sewing, creative projects, watching TV, trying new foods, and conversations about the many things still left to learn.
Student counsellor rate: $55.00 per session
